An Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non-invasive test that detects and records the electrical activity of the brain. It works by measuring the tiny electrical signals (impulses) produced by the firing of neurons (brain cells) using small, flat metal discs (electrodes) attached to the scalp.

While echocardiography looks at the structure and movement of the heart, an EEG looks at the function and rhythm of the brain.
